1) The Chateau
The Chateau is one of the most iconic locations in Outer Banks. It is the primary hangout spot for the Pogues and where John B. (played by Chase Stokes) lives. It is a cozy nook with a backyard, porch, a havelock, and robust interiors. All scenes from The Chateau in Outer Banks are filmed in the Secessionville Historic District, located in Charleston.
2) Kildare Island or 'The Outer Banks'
Also known as the 'Outer Banks' in Outer Banks, the Kildare Islands might be referred to as the imaginary barrier in North Carolina. Although they have a fictional name in the show, these islands exist and are called ‘Barrier Islands’ in North Carolina. While most of the series is filmed around the islands' interiors, several parts of season 1 are filmed around Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, Charleston.
3) Heyward's Seafood

6) Chapel Hill Law Library
This ancient hub of knowledge benefits John B. and Sarah, as seen in season 1 of Outer Banks. In the series, it Is called The University of North Carolina. However, in reality, it’s called The Charleston Gaillard Center, Charleston, located in Charleston. It hosts a variety of fine arts and cultural activities, including music and dance.
7) The Wreck
Another popular joint with the Pogues is Kiara’s restaurant, The Wreck. This restaurant serves the group's favorite fishy delicacies. However, The Wreck in Outer Banks has stuck to the original name in the series and is called ‘The Wreck of the Richard and Charlene.’
8) Ben Silver
The hub of sparks flying between Sarah and John B. - Ben Silver is a petite boutique where Sara and John B. decide to have a rendezvous for a makeover (more so for John B.). This historic boutique is another establishment that chose to stick with its original name in the series. The store is in King Street, Charleston.
9) The Bell Tower
The Bell Tower in Outer Banks is John B.’s favorite place. Another historic landmark, the Bell Tower, is known as ‘The Old Bethel AME Chruch’ and has stood tall since the Civil War. Although the church is abandoned, tourists still visit it in McClellanville, South Carolina.
10) Island Club
The Island Club is where the fete of the Kooks occurs with splendor, and all the aristocrats gather there to dance away the evening. It’s also where the Pogues reluctantly work as employees. The Island Club in Outer Banks is popularly known as ‘Kiawah Island Golf Resort’ and is a luxe destination in Charleston.
11) Crain House
The eerie Crain House is infamous yet pivotal in season 1 of Outer Banks. It is said to have a well leading to the treasure, although the Pogues find a darker secret. While not much about the home’s history is known, the mansion is in a quaint neighborhood in Cannonborough Elliotborough, Charleston.
12) The Ferry Dock
Perhaps the genesis of Sarah and John B’s relationship - the ferry dock. The couple shared their first kiss on the aforementioned dock while drenched in the rain.
13) Hawk's Nest Tower

1) Nassau, Bahamas
A common misconception among viewers was that Outer Banks Season 2 was filmed in the Bahamas. Especially since John B. and Sarah were en route to Nassau, the aforementioned tropical destination. However, the scene where the duo were first filmed in season 2 was in Barbados - Careenage, Bridgetown. Fun fact: Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados.
2) Paradise Island
After Sarah and John B. successfully sneak into the luxe mansion to look for their treasure and race against time to find clues within the massive mansion. The mansion is The Royal Westmoreland, located in Saint James, Barbados.
3) Fairmont Hotel
The Fairmont Hotel became a place of refuge for Sarah and John B, who were hiding from the crafty Captain Terrance. While the primary name remained, the lodge is known as ‘The Fairmont Royal Pavilion, a luxury resort nestled in the heart of Barbados’ shores.
4) Freedman's Assembly of God
The Pogues race against time to discover the mammoth 7-foot crucifix at the Freedman’s Assembly of God - an abandoned church in the middle of the woods. The church was initially called St. Thomas & St. Denis Parish in Charleston.
5) Kildare County Courthouse
Kildare County Courthouse is primarily where all lawful decisions concerning Pouges and Kooks are deliberated, and John B. gets charged with murder, landing him the death penalty. The courthouse is a prime wedding venue known as The Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel in North Charleston.
6) Guerin's Pharmacy
After the location of the Denmark Key becomes known, the Pogues venture to Grandma’s apartment to scout for the key. After an intense search, they finally uncover the key in her apartment right above Guerin’s Pharmacy, a real destination on Main Street in Summerville, South Carolina.
7) Poguelandia
After losing the crucifix, the gang ends up on another island surrounded by lush landscapes and golden sand as far as the eye can behold. This became known as Pougelandia per JJ and was filmed at Bathsheba Beach in Barbados.

1) The Guadalupe Estate belonging to The Camerons
Shortly after capturing the crucifix from the Pogues, The Camerons hide in a secluded yet lavish safe house in season 1. This home appears to be located amid a serene county with a beach within reach - an easy escape should they need it. Although the home's original name remains unknown, it’s among the many houses in Cattlewash Beach, on the Eastern Coast of Barbados.
2) Charleston Museum
One of the highlights of season 3 of Outer Banks is the historic Charleston Museum! The Pogues attempt an undercover mission to find the hidden tchotchke that would hopefully lead to El Dorado. The museum is reportedly the United States’ oldest museum situated in Charleston.
3) Big John's Bell Tower
Like his son John B's bell tower that was abandoned in season 1 of Outer Banks, Big John would often ring the bell of another church in Barbados where he lived. He hoped his estranged son would hear it each day and come home to him. The duo eventually reunite. The church is called St. John Parish Church, located around Hackleton’s Cliff in Barbados.
4) Kitty Hawk Adventure Therapy
Season 3, episode 9 of Outer Banks was an emotional ride for the Pogues since they came to say farewell to their loved ones. However, Kiara falls victim to her parent's sinister schemes at Kitty Hawk Adventure Therapy. The enormous camp is called St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center on Seabrook Island, South Carolina.
5) The El Dorado Cave
Lastly, the Pogues' unchartered destination: The El Dorado Caves. Although episode 10 of the show claimed the caves were in South America, a vast portion of the Pogues exploring a marshy jungle was filmed in The Welchman Hall Gully - a tropical park in Barbados.
